Summary:
Cooperative Extension at Alabama A&M University (AAMU) seeks applications for the position of 4-H Youth development Program Coordinator.
This is 12-month full-time position located in the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) at AAMU.
This position will be located in the Madison County Extension Office.
Under the guidance of the 4-H Youth Development State Specialist, the Program Coordinator will support the delivery of programming with the 4-H Mobile STEM Lab, and other 4-H programs.
The Program Coordinator assists with the scheduling and organization of the 4-H mobile STEM lab, youth focused programs, volunteer background and fingerprinting tasks, and other grant funded initiatives.
This position will collaborate with other Extension agents, County Extension Coordinators (CECs), and professional agencies in the designated counties.
4-H Youth Development Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the State Specialist for 4-H Youth Development at Alabama A&M University.
The coordinator works closely with staff involved in the 4-H programs working with Urban Regional Extension Agents (UREAs), Administrators, and Extension Specialists in the Cooperative Extension Unit at AAMU.
Continuation of employment is based on program needs and availability of funding.

Will work closely with the 4-H state specialist to identify program needs and gaps in STEM education.
Collaborate to develop strategies and activities that address these needs, ensuring that the mobile lab's offerings align with the goals and objectives of the 4-H program.
Will leverage a comprehensive understanding of STEM concepts and principles and familiarity with the Alabama Course of Study objectives and Next Generation Science Standards.
This knowledge will be essential for designing and implementing effective STEM lessons and activities.
The coordinator will manage the background check and fingerprinting processes for 4-H volunteers and others that come in contact with the youth participants.
Participate in ongoing training and meetings with the 4-H team to enhance knowledge and skills related to STEM education.
Stay informed of the latest research and best practices in STEM education to continually improve the mobile lab's programs.
Plan and implement hands-on STEM lessons and activities that cater to diverse learners.
Utilize research-based instructional strategies to engage students and promote a deeper understanding of STEM concepts.
Analyze data and feedback to suggest modifications to the curriculum and improve program effectiveness.
Establish partnerships and build relationships with existing stakeholders, such as schools, community organizations, and industry partners.
Collaborate with these partners to enhance the mobile lab's offerings and expand its reach to more youth.
Conduct and demonstrate STEM lessons to the 4-H team and participants, providing guidance and support in delivering effective STEM education.
Share best practices and resources with team members to ensure consistent quality across all programs.
Collaborate with the 4-H team to develop and implement engaging STEM lessons that align with the curriculum objectives.
Collaborate on lesson plans, instructional materials, and hands-on activities promoting active learning and fostering youth's interest in STEM.
Manage the schedule of the 4-H mobile STEM unit and provide implementation of the activities and programming on the mobile STEM unit.
Assists with scheduling of monthly partnership meetings.
Maintains program data, participant data, and inventory records for the STEM Lab.
Maintains compliance with university, state and federal policies and regulations related to grant implementation.
Actively manages calendar, maintains healthy and timely communication with supervisor and participates in all in-service training, Extension meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.

in Elementary Education or Secondary Education, Science, Engineering, Mathematics or closely related discipline 3 years of experience working with youth in STEM and familiarity with the Alabama Course of Study objectives and Next Generation Science Standards.
Ability to travel in-state with some overnight travel.
Demonstrated skills in working with limited-resource and/or minority audiences.
Experience in project management and demonstrated experience in building partnerships.
A valid driver's license, and access to reliable transportation to travel to and from program sites.
