Summary:
This position is in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences/ It is a full-time 9-month position in the Department of Visual, Performing and Communication Arts.
Tenure-status is negotiable based on qualifications.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Teach four (4) undergraduate courses including Theatre Appreciation, Voice & Diction, Oral Interpretation, Acting for Television I & II, Intro and Advanced Directing, Public Speaking, Screen Writing and Production for Film.
•Recruit, advise and supervise program majors.
•Serve on department, college and university committees.
•Conduct research and publish.
•Participate in program events and activities.
•Participate in department, college and university activities.
•Contribute to the success of performance-based activities and theatre space management.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.
):
•Must hold an MFA or master’s degree in Theatre/Performance/Communication Arts or a closely related field with at least 18 credit hours in one of the disciplines
•At least two (2) years of college teaching experience.
•At least three (3) years of related professional experience.
•Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of (1) high-quality teaching, both face-to-face and online and student advising, (2) strong background in theatre, film and/or television performance (3) relevant professional work experience, and (4) engagement of best practices trends in stage, television and/or film performance.
