EDUCATOR CREW TRAINER Overview The purpose of this position is to supervise and educate educator trainees in the history of the space & aviation program; and to motivate, stimulate, teach, and supervise trainees in a variety of Space Camp-related topics.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions Educating and Instructing Teachers Conduct Space Shuttle and International Space Station simulations training and ensure that trainees are adequately instructed in mission simulation positions and understand their roles in the overall mission.
Provide knowledgeable explanations about a variety of space and aviation-related subjects and perform lectures/briefings as assigned such as, but not limited to: Crew Systems, Shuttle Orientation, and Rocket Park & Museum History.
Ensure that teachers are adequately instructed in all program contents and activities to ensure a successful, quality, and enjoyable experience.
Notify management of issues related to supplies, issues with teachers, and issues with other Rocket Center staff as soon as possible.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for teachers and employees.
Meet and exceed the expectations of the Director of Education and other Education Department staff members for the timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks and activities.
Creating and presenting educationally sound workshops and activities for teachers Working with the Director of Education, create a 2-hour long workshop, filled with activities for teachers to take home and implement in their classrooms with relative ease.
Workshops must meet at least National Standards for Math, Science, Technology, Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies as appropriate.
Present workshop each time throughout the summer as scheduled.
Request supplies for the workshop promptly and set up/clean up the workshop when scheduled.
Respond to the evaluation of the workshop and make changes as needed.
Must present professionally and safely.
Meet and exceed the expectations of the Director of Education and other Education Department staff members for the timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks and activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No Travel Required: No Qualifications Required Education and Experience Education: A certified teacher or senior in an education degree program is required.
Work Experience: Experience in a similar educational, instructional, and work environment is required.
Must possess excellent communication and instructional skills to instruct and teach others and be a positive role model.
Must be able to complete the one-week training period and pass all required tests (practical as well as written) as specified by Center management.
You must submit a Reference form from your school Principal.

Physical Requirements of the Position This position has the following special requirements: Walking and climbing (stairs) to access other departments and experience all areas of the training center floor.
Standing for long periods (4-6 hours) or for the duration of shift instructing and operating simulators.
Carrying and lifting equipment, supplies, and objects up to 50 pounds to waist height.
Bending, kneeling, and reaching to store & retrieve supplies, operate simulators, and develop schedules & activities.
to give lectures and briefings and conduct instructional tours through the museum and other areas of the facility and campus.
Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisors, guests, trainees, and employees in person and over the telephone.
