The *veterinary assistant *provides support to the veterinarians and technicians in their daily tasks by cleaning and maintaining equipment, preparing and sanitizing the surgery suite, restraining and handling patients, and doing clerical and administrative work.
They deliver quality care for all patients and provide exceptional service.
*Duties*: - Assist veterinarians in providing care for animals - Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures - Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians - Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas - Clean and sanitize equipment and instruments - Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis - Take x-rays - Provide basic grooming services such anal glad expression and nail trimming - Understand and carry out oral and written directions - Maintain accurate medical records - Shows up for work regularly; full time presence at work is essential for every shift *Competencies*: - Care and Compassion -Animal Restraint and Safety -Communication -Team Orientation - Dependability - Cleanliness Standards - Energy and Productivity - Time Management - Technical Skills and Learning - Care and Use of Equipment *Qualifications*: - High school diploma or equivalent - At least 2 years of experience working in a veterinary setting - Knowledge of animal behavior and basic veterinary care - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written - Ability to work well in a team environment - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
