Position Summary Advanced accounting in the maintenance of fiscal records.
Work involves maintaining complex control accounts, and preparing more difficult reports, and performing independent auditing of fiscal transactions and records.
Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS salary schedule E1, Grade 02: $49,686 - $66,832 Work Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:45 a.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain and update Calhoun Foundation and ACA Foundation Accounting policies.
Serve as both Foundation’s representative with banks and investment firms that house Foundation accounts.
Log and distribute Foundation checks and deposits received.
Reconcile all revenue into Foundation bank accounts and investment funds.
Calculate scholarship awardable amounts for both endowments and annual scholarships annually.
Prepare monthly transfers of scholarship revenue less expenses to investment accounts and scholarship revenue to both Calhoun and Athens.
Prepare monthly bank and investment reconciliations.
Coordinate calculation and approval of annual investment sweeps from Foundation Endowment.
Maintain fixed asset records.
Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable from examining all payment requests for compliance of Foundation and college polices, ensuring accounts are not overspent, expenses are properly classified, obtaining necessary approvals, printing of Foundation checks, and creating and filing 1099s according to IRS standards.
Work closely with Foundation Directors and staff.
Coordinate Foundation Finance committee meetings with the Chairman.
Serve as point of contact with Foundation auditors.
Create financial reports for Foundation Board and Finance Committee.
Coordinate scholarship information concerning Foundation awards with the staff of Calhoun Community College.
Work with Calhoun Community College to move necessary funds from the Foundation to the college.
Prepare necessary journal entries for QuickBooks.
Assist Calhoun Community College with annual year end close.
Help Calhoun College Director of Accounting with student receivable tasks.
Handle all processing of Calhoun Community College Post 911 payments from Veterans Affairs including coordinating certification amounts from Financial Aid Certifying Officials on students in the Banner contract module, receipting payments, initiating overpayment refunds to VA and ensuring account is reconciled each semester.
Develop methodology and maintain annual Foundation budgets.
Perform all duties with professionalism.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours (45 quarter hours) of coursework in Accounting is required.
A minimum of two (2) years work experience in the accounting field is required.
Experience working with and efficiency in advanced database, spreadsheet and other current computer software applications (e.
g.
Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, etc.
) is required.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments; Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills; Knowledge and experience with FASB accounting standards; Knowledge and experience using QuickBooks, preferably QuickBooks for Non-profits; Working knowledge of computerized accounting software; Work experience with non-profit accounting; Demonstrated organizational and planning skills; Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and practices; Ability to perform detailed work with written or numerical data; Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex tasks and to prepare reports from saved data sources; Ability to maintain confidentiality of information; Ability to work independently and as an effective team member; Ability to develop and coordinate multiple projects and activities; Ability to make decisions in accordance with institutional policy; Ability to communicate and work effectively and pleasantly with a variety of individuals and groups, both internally and externally; Ability to follow through and complete assignments in a timely manner and handle multiple administrative functions concurrently; Ability to follow established laws, policies and procedures; Initiative- responding to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work; A focus on details; Customer Service Orientation- A focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs; Willingness and desire to learn new things and apply that learning; Willingness to maintain flexibility in order to meet customer needs; A positive attitude regardless of circumstances at hand.
