BMSS Advisors & CPAs is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant who values cultivating relationships to join our GovCon team.
Our services include tax planning, compliance & assurance, merger & acquisition, advisory, wealth management, accounting services, payroll, and IT Support.

This role can work from any of our five locations (Hoover, downtown Birmingham, Gadsden, Huntsville) AL and (Ridgeland) MS!
What you'll be doing:
The Senior Accountant role is responsible for organizing and managing client assignments and projects with minimal supervision as well as coaching peers in professional development expectations.
Applicants should have a bachelor's or master's degree, and at least three years of accounting experience.
Skills needed to be successful:
Required -
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Suite of Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Job Responsibilities and/or Activities:
Timekeeping system implementation
Complex Invoicing:
Creation of customer billings and reconciliation
Tracking cumulative dollars and hours as dictated by contract
Creation of contract, items, labor categories in accounting system
Updating accounting system for contract modifications
Simplistic Month & Year End Closure
Creation of indirect rate schedule
Creation of tax package for tax preparation
Incurred Cost Submission preparation
Training staff accountants in line with their job responsibilities
Review staff work product
Develops technical skills both on the job and through formal learning channels
Seeks to gain knowledge of client businesses
Effectively documents work
As a team member, recognizes solutions for client and identifies those to reporting manager
Desired -
Experience using accounting software - QuickBooks, Unanet, Deltek Costpoint, JAMIS, etc.
Solid understanding of Government Contract Accounting in compliance with FAR/DCAA standards
