Job Statement: Maintains General Ledger records and accounts.
Advises management as to adherence to GAAP, TVA, GASB and FERC regulations.
Assists in the development and installation of computerized accounting applications.
Essential Duties:
Prepares account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Reviews accuracy of journal entries to ensure compliance with applicable standards and prepares correcting journal entries as necessary.
Performs an analysis of accruals, pro-rations, and clearing accounts.
Advises management on adequacy of internal controls and makes recommendations for improvements.
Assists with the preparation of monthly reports, journal entries, and reconciliation.
Completes G/L account reconciliations, including analyzing supporting records and following up on variances.
Gathers data, performs analysis, and prepares special reports as requested.
Validates all monthly financial reporting.
Assembles financial data for audits.
Assists with accounting projects as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education/Training/Certifications: B.
S.
degree in Accounting, Business Management/Administration, or related discipline required.
Prefer an MBA, CPA, or CMA certification.
Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in general financial accounting or auditing required.
Complex accounting issues, multiple company structure and consolidation desired.
Experience in accounting rules, regulations, legal and business principles among utility or governmental accounts preferred.
Required use of computerized financial system.
Equipment: Calculator, telephone, scanner, copier, printer and personal computer.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions: Primary performs sedentary activities in an office environment; some tasks require repetitive motion over an extended period.
