General Accountant

Overview: Axient is currently seeking a General Accountant.
Position may be filled in either Huntsville, AL or Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities: Seeking a results-oriented General Accountant with experience in a reconciliation-focused role.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: Reconciliations: Complete all assigned balance sheet reconciliations accurately and timely per company guidelines.
Investigate and resolve differences.
Month End Close: Ensure that all correcting entries are posted properly and resolve any outstanding reconciling items timely.
Continuous Improvement: Assist in assessing current processes and identifying improvements, testing, and applying those in production.
Communication and collaboration: Communicating with other teams in the Finance and Accounting department to determine reconciling items.
Support internal and external audit activities.
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
Additional duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year accounting experience working in the government contracting industry.
Demonstrated experience with Deltek Costpoint.
Demonstrated experience in governmental contracting, DCAA auditing compliance, and financial reporting.
Must be proficient with Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Applicant must have good organizational skills and be an analytical problem solver with attention to detail.
Individual must be a self-starter who can demonstrate initiative and work independently with limited supervision.
Must be a team player and display professionalism at all times.
