Responsibilities:
Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence division (Hexagon) is seeking an Accountant to join our Accounts Payable (AP) team for our headquarters office in Huntsville, AL.
We are searching for a detail-oriented, conscientious, and trustworthy individual to join our AP team.
The AP Accountant will process and pay invoices using Microsoft Dynamics GP; provide excellent customer service to internal customers; maintain a high degree of integrity while dealing with sensitive information.
This position will require being in the office at least one full day per week.
Objectives and responsibilities include:
Strengthen relationships with vendors through timely payments
Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process
Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
Ensure robust audit trails through proper documentation
Provide excellent customer service to our internal customers (e.
g.
, employees, purchasing department, management, etc.
)
Communicate with external vendors to troubleshoot discrepancies
Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment
Maintain proper documentation to ensure robust audit trails for accounts payable transactions
Perform invoice and general-ledger data entry
Process payment runs
Research invoice, payment, and purchase order history, as needed
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations; provide supporting documentation during the month-end close, such as calculating, validating, and recording payables accruals, re-classifications, and adjustments
Update and maintain process documentation for accounting processes
Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with travel policy
Effectively partner with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, drive process improvements, and implement best practices
Prepare audit schedules as requested, including the support documentation
Ensure compliance with all company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Approach Accounts Payable and other projects with a continuous improvement mindset; Suggest/document process improvements, streamlining of related processes, and recommend changes to improve transparency and efficiency for the global process
Qualifications:
Works under minimal supervision with a wide latitude for independent judgement
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Requires three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
An Accounting degree is preferred
