Job Summary
The Network Engineering Project Manager (NEPM) provides high-level project management and delivery expertise, working with the Network Engineering team, the PMO, and stakeholders to manage the Network Engineering project scope and change requests across multiple simultaneous Telecom-related projects.
The NEPM is the key interface to accomplish all phases of assigned projects, including project initiation, planning, execution, controlling, monitoring, and close-out, to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
This role is the primary leader managing processes, vendors, contracts, and intra-company coordination on behalf of the Network Engineering team.
This position requires high skill in working collaboratively with Subject Matter Experts to communicate and deliver on an overall project plan.
The Network Engineering Project Manager reports to the Director of Network Engineering.
Responsibilities
Conduct preliminary investigations for all project requests by reviewing requirements to ensure they are aligned with organizational priorities, business plans, and objectives
Manage complex projects from proposal and requirements definition to project planning and implementation, using broad input from industry and/or business unit subject matter experts
Identify project requirements, define deliverables, and manage roles and responsibilities
Identify cross-functional dependencies and work with relevant department stakeholders to coordinate and prioritize activities
Manage requirements documentation, phase gate reviews, communication, and user feedback collection at various stages in the project life cycle
Develop, prepare, present, and maintain project plans, including staffing requirements, cost estimates, detailed budgets, and work breakdown structures and schedules
Manage project baseline until change management comes into play while ensuring project deliverables are integrated with planning and NRTC MSA Exhibits
Review BOMs vs.
usage -ensuring materials are in place before work commences
Develop Procurement quotes requests/acquisitions
Function as a proactive interface between project stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate definitions of business requirements and delivery of business outcomes
Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure Members are provided with a handoff through each stage of a project and that those resources are in line with the required support
Manage vendor coordination and performance to support project budget and schedule
Perform project risk assessments, including identifying key risk factors, providing effective mitigation strategies, and assigning contingency action plans to both schedules and budgets
Provide Project Reporting to the Engineering Director and VP of Engineering
Receive and inventory network equipment delivery in lab staging area
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in fast-paced organizations with the ability to align with changing priorities
Experience collecting and understanding business and technical requirements and translating needs into implementation plans
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects
Ability to work to deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
Ability to establish trust with project staff and develop strong working relationships
Possess a good understanding of Telecommunications terminology and practices
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
Minimum five years' experience in Project Management
Physical and Location Demands
Work is typically performed in an office setting but can be remote at times
Must be local to the Huntsville, Alabama area and able to travel to the NRTC office frequently
Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs.
Occasionally, travel may be required (15%-20%)
