Service Manager
CraneWorks/RentalWorks is an operated crane rental and equipment rental company headquartered in Birmingham, AL, with additional locations in Mobile and Decatur, AL and Nashville, TN.
We provide operated cranes from 15 tons to 500 tons, and offer services in crane lifts, rigging, machinery moving and storage.
We can provide the crane, rigging and certified operator/rigger.
Our equipment rental division maintains a large rental fleet, including bare rent cranes, boom trucks, warehouse and reach forklifts, aerial lifts, dirt equipment and other specialized rental equipment.
We have over 30 years’ experience in the operated and bare rental market place.
The Service Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the maintenance and upkeep our equipment fleet.
This individual must be passionate about customer service and driven to help people.
The Service Manager will hire and motivate a team of shop and field Service Technicians.
The individual will be responsible for improving efficiencies and customer service by properly maintaining and repairing equipment in a timely manner.
CraneWorks/RentalWorks will provide the tools, technology and support necessary to do the job.
Requirements:
Duties & Responsibilities
Manages the repair and maintenance of company owned and customer equipment to include the organization of yard (Ready to Rent, Returned, Down)
Works with equipment vendors to learn the maintenance requirements and capabilities of new equipment added to inventory.
Evaluates all equipment after repairs, maintenance or safety checks.
Documents equipment status before and after rental.
Perform quality control checks
Update, maintain, and keep organized equipment service records
Create, update, close and bill work orders
File warranty claims in a timely fashion
Commission New Equipment
Qualifications & Skills:
Extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of related equipment
Knowledge of work planning and scheduling and other supervisory activities
Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements
Clear perspective of maintenance and repair issues in the industry
Planning and management experience
Computer literacy
Reporting experience
Inventory management experience
Valid driver’s license
Strong technical aptitude is required
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree or trade-school degree preferred
5 years equipment service and maintenance experience
1-3 years supervisory experience preferred
License & Certification
Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment, equipment shop environment, or job site.
Noise, fumes, and chemicals associated with a shop environment is expected.
The ability to drive at night is required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
Regular and predictable attendance is required
