Description Summary: The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders in the College of Education, Humanities and Behavioral Sciences seeks a highly motivated academician to serve as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Speech-Language Pathology.
This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position.
The rank and tenure status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications.
The successful candidate will adhere to the university's educational philosophy and work collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers.
Expected participation in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty.
Faculty perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities promptly and per the college's mission, policies, and procedures.
Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Communicative Sciences and Disorders.
•Recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
•Participate in research and other scholarly activities.
•Mentor graduate students in research.
•Assist with accreditation preparation, site visits, and annual accreditation reporting.
•Actively participate in departmental and college activities.
•Serve on college and department committees.
Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.
): •Earned EdD or Ph.
D.
in Speech-Language Pathology from a regionally accredited institution •Three years of professional experience in a diverse setting.
•ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology required.
•Must hold or qualify for Alabama licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
•Have demonstrated skills of teaching in blended or online learning environments.
•Have the ability to work collaboratively with university and public-school colleagues within a diverse environment.
Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: •Excellent communication skills •Ability to teach at the post-secondary level •Knowledge of current research in Speech-Language Pathology •Must have expertise and qualifications specific to the following teaching areas: dysphagia, motor speech disorders, augmentative and alternative communication, voice disorders, diagnostics, and child speech and language.
