Summary:
This Mathematics Instructor position is in the College of Engineering, Technology and Physical Sciences in the department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
The position is a full-time (9-month) non-tenure-track position at the instructor level.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the field of Mathematics, teaching, and supporting activities that will enable him/her to be an innovative participant of the program and the university.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Teach twelve (12) to fifteen (15) contact hours per semester of undergraduate mathematics courses.
•Manage learning environments by (1) ensuring that accurate syllabi are developed, (2) maintaining attendance records, (3) submitting grades, (4) providing constructive feedback as well as other relevant information to students throughout the semester, and (5) conducting classes punctually and in accordance with the meeting schedule.
•Participate in program events and activities.
•Participate in teaching, research and service activities on the department, college, and university levels, which includes successfully completing 80% of teaching, 10% of research & 10% of service annually.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.
):
•Master's degree in Mathematics from an accredited institution OR Master's degree in a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from an accredited institution.
(PHD in Mathematics is preferred).
•Preferred proficiency in the use of technology and the online environment (i.
e.
, Blackboard, Ellucian Banner 9).
•Ability to contribute to academic program development.
