An experienced Head of School is needed to lead an established Child Development Center and Academy in Huntsville, Alabama.
The Head of School will administer and supervise all activities and personnel within the school and establish an educational environment that motivates faculty and students to develop to their fullest possible potential.
With a current enrollment of approximately 115 students, ages 2.
5 through fifth grade, the Head of School will get to know each student, see their progress, and celebrate their accomplishments.
The Bible is taught throughout every subject by using a Christian-based curriculum.
Small classes ensure students get one-on-one attention, teachers are not overtaxed, and everyone feels loved and appreciated.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrate leadership, administrative and supervisory qualities
Demonstrate a Christ-like spirit and attitude.
Share a common biblical vision with the Pastor of the church
Manage, evaluate, and supervise effective and clear procedures consistent with the school's philosophy, mission, values, and goals including instructional programs, Spiritual growth & development, extracurricular activities, discipline systems, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures
Supervise instructional programs, evaluate lesson plans & observe classes regularly to encourage the use of a variety of strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child development and in line with the school's instructional expectations
Coordinate and assist in recruiting, screening, interviewing, selecting, training, and assigning certified and classified staff
Supervise, observe, and evaluate all staff Interpret and enforce federal and state laws and state and local board policies
Supervise finances by collaborating with the board treasurer on operating budgets; maintain fiscal records and control expenditures within approved budgets
Schedule and determine assignments for all professional personnel
Assist in the development, organization, and administration of extracurricular and co-curricular programs
Assume responsibility for personal professional growth and development through professional organizations membership and meetings, including regional, state, and national
Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication
Become proficient and knowledgeable of the computerized student management system
Become proficient and knowledgeable of the requirements of the school's accrediting association
Develop and encourage programs of orientation and professional growth for teachers and others
Provide an environment of high expectations for staff and students
Confer, collaborate, and cooperate with CDCA School Board in the total operation of the school Maintain effective communication with the staff and Board through planning and informational meetings
Maintain effective two-way communications and favorable relationships with parents, Church staff, community groups, and other stakeholders to foster understanding and solicit support for school programs, objectives, and needs
Participate in educational, civic, and community involvement
Maintain standards of student discipline designed to command the respect of students and parents and to minimize interruptions
Provide proper supervision for all student activities both on and off campus
Ensure a safe environment through student order and discipline, planning and supervision of emergency preparedness programs as required by law, and coordination of safety inspections
Coordinate with the Church Administrator to ensure the proper care, maintenance, neatness, and cleanliness of the building and grounds
Responsible for securing and maintaining material resources
Minimum Qualifications:
Alabama Certification
MEd in Educational Leadership or Administration and Supervision preferred
Five years classroom teaching experience
Three years administrative experience (principal experience preferred)
