Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Instructor Operator for the RWESS, supporting the Army Division.
In your role as an unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operator, you will conduct flight and developmental testing of unmanned aircraft and support testing of rotary-wing aircraft with UAS flight support, aviation-related components, and aviation systems in direct support of the test and evaluation mission of the United States Army Redstone Test Center located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
High School Degree
Minimum of 3-5 years of Radio-Controlled (RC) experience with fixed wing and multirotor.
Fixed wing experience must be without the aid of an autopilot or gyro assisted components.
Hand eye motor skills will be evaluated on a Real Flight Simulator during the interview process.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class II FAA Flight Physical.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.
S.
Citizenship is required for all applicants)
UAS autopilot (such as Ardupilot and Q Ground Control) knowledge and experience is required.
Candidate must have the ability to operate Group 1 and 2 Multirotor and Fixed Wing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in multiple flight modes from a Ground Controlled Station (GCS).
Must have demonstrated ability to apply practical knowledge to flight testing applicable to the developmental and system qualification testing of DOD unmanned aircraft.
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening.
Must be able to travel.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (AE, ME, EE, or IE/SE desired) or related discipline.
DOD Group 3 or above UAS operator qualification/experience.
Raven/Puma operator qualification.
Small UAS Master Trainer qualification.
Graduate of UAS Instructor Operator course or equivalent.
Knowledge and experience building Pixhawk or similar based UAS.
Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D Printing experience is preferred but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct developmental flight test for Attack and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) platforms.
Conduct UAS flight support for developmental test.
Analyze and provide recommendations regarding DOD and U.
S.
Army UAS regulations.
Conduct unit training (refresher and transition differences) for programs of record and non-standard with non-tactical mission UAS/Small UAS.
Work as part of a diverse team of contractors, military, and civilian experimental test pilots and engineers.
Prepare pre-test documentation (test plans, test readiness reviews, safety reviews).
Provide technical expertise regarding the method of test that will best achieve the test objectives.
Monitor in-flight test activities, via real-time telemetry systems or as a crewmember.
Perform in-depth engineering data reduction and analysis.
Write comprehensive test reports to provide usable, accurate, and readily interpretable results.
Prepare/deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and government representatives.
