What is a Collections Assistant?
At the Cook Museum of Natural Science, the Collections Assistant is someone who helps to research and preserve natural science objects at the Museum.
It is someone who is meticulous and an independent worker.
This person must be highly organized and be able to work under heavily regulated, often isolated, conditions.
Basic computer knowledge is also required.

What does a day look like in this position?
Our Collection Assistant’s main priority is to organize, preserve, and inventory items that are part of our Museum collection.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
Organizing, cleaning, and inventorying museum collections.
Routine cleaning of exhibit and storage areas.
General administrative support of the collections department.
Important qualities to be successful in this position are patience, attention to detail, and a willingness to follow directions and ask questions when they arise.
Experience in museum collections is helpful but not required.
This is a part-time position that works independently so flexibility in scheduling is available, but dependability is a MUST.
