ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Server
This requirements of this job as server are to prepare and deliver exceptional experience for every guest.
Servers will be held to high standards that uphold sanitation, cleanliness, and safety procedures.
The duties and responsibilities of a Server include, but are not limited to: Handles volume and stress with composure and finesse.
Adhering to uniform standards.
Dress and act professionally each day.
Knowledge of systems, methods and processes that contribute to great execution.
Follow training guidelines and testing.
Attitude: This is overwhelmingly the most important ingredient in our service, all the employees in the restaurant should possess a hospitable and caring attitude and display a cheerful demeanor.
Knowledge: Once the proper technique and attitude are in place, food, wine, beer, and spirits knowledge is the difference between a good and a great server.
Being able to confidently answer questions.
Knowledgeable of the menu, with the ability to make recommendations.
Cleanliness: You should be meticulous about keeping yourself, your section, tables, and the restaurant looking spotless.
Ensure guests are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems with management.
Unobtrusiveness: The best service is subtle and anticipatory.
There is a street-smart sense in reading the guests desires and knowing when to back away and when to approach.
Never present your back or elbow.
Always create a non-invasive way to serve or to clean.
Style: This includes the servers tone of voice, personality, and energy level.
Choreography: We are actors and on stage every shift.
Perfect flow of the restaurant in all areas.
Seeing the big picture and making sure everyone leaves happy.
Take food and drink orders with accuracy and enter in the POS in a timely manner.
Right of Way: Guests always have the right of way, even if they insist.
Collect and process payments from tables in a timely manner.
Even after the check is paid, we must continue to provide professional service.
Prepare non-alcohol beverages and retrieve alcoholic beverages from the bar, garnish drinks accordingly.
Check guests identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age per company guidelines.
Comply with all food and beverage regulations.
Communicate: Communication between guests, team members, management, bar, and kitchen are a corner stone of our service.
Circulate: Circulation between the tables, bar, and kitchen is very important in giving great service.
Consolidate: Consolidate your trips.
Fill up all glasses in your whole station, clear all plates, and then go on to something else.
This is the secret to running volume and making more money.
Wipe down the booth for crumbs & polish.
Line up tables straight, and polish.
Line up Chairs using a binder.
Proper table set-up.
Stock/restock throughout shift server, drink, and POS stations.
Brew Tea and Coffee.
Complete throughout shift as needed.
Polish and roll silverware as directed by management.
Sanitizer Buckets set and labeled.
Assist servers with food delivery.
Bathroom Checks.
Replace toilet paper rolls, paper towels and soap as needed.
UNIFORM STANDARDS: Clean jeans, dark in color.
No holes, tears, or bleached jeans.
Clean plain red t-shirt.
Shirt tucked into pants and must wear a belt.
Apron: pressed, clean, and white.
Tools: Wine key, cigarette lighter, minimum of 4 black ball point pens (matching, no-pharmaceutical, offensive, or logo pens are allowed), cash bank and change.
Laundry pen, and mints.
Hair must be kept clean.
Clean shaven.
Beards & mustaches are allowed but must be maintained.
No hats.
Fingernails must be kept trimmed.
Jewelry: Minimal jewelry.
Example: stud earrings, simple ring (wedding ring).
No facial or tongue piercings.
Headphones or ear buds are not to be worn.
Non-slip shoes must be worn.
Cleaned and polished.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: No experience required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate in English.
Must be able to understand direction given by management.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions.
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must attend orientation and agree to policies and procedures as outlined in the server training.
Must complete the server training to ensure knowledge prior to working a solo shift.
Must successfully attend and complete all other required training in compliance with local and state regulations, such as alcohol or food certifications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are the representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
